I have become fascinated with tides this year. Not because I paint them (rocks are more my thing) but because of the access that low tides permit. I'm ashamed to say that despite living within 10 miles of the sea all my life, I had never realised that high, high tides are matched with low, low tides. There was a fascinating Coast programme on tides a few weeks ago - it seems that predictions give even the mathematicians problems, so I feel a little absolved. I just go by the little yellow tide books that are produced for sailors around here, or by the BBC!
(And I could say that I love that painting too, and the last, but that is going to get so boring!!)

Tides... We don't have them here in the Midlands, although we're all pulled and directed by the sun and the moon the wind and the tides. I like them, high or low.
