It has to be said, and after 'I think' ten open studios... this was the best by a country mile.
I'm really surprised and chuffed and it's totally unexpected... A huge thank you to all that made the effort to come along, who purchased my paintings, cards and prints, offered lots of interesting comments and engaged in conversation.
The central exhibition at Oundle has produced a few surprises too. I've also had the added bonus of winning three out of the eight prizes for my painting at the exhibition. Representatives from the arts festival sponsors were the judges. So, thank you very much to Oakapple Studios, Colemans Stationers and Sublime Media for the thumbs up. I'm very grateful and appreciate the recognition.
It does indeed take a great deal of effort to change my home to a gallery... I really enjoy sharing it and will do so again... However it's an event I simply can't undertake alone. So a genuine 'thank you' from me, to Georgia, Anne-Marie, Joy, Tara, Cath, Lynn, Deb, Al, Paul T and Paul M, who offered generous helpings of time and cake to make my two weekends so enjoyable and allowed me to meet, greet and natter with visitors.
So there we are, all done for now... and as I sit here with me mug of tea and a hob nob typing on my MacBook Pro, the sun is shinning, I'm in my garden and I've a pair of big brown eyes staring expectantly at me... so I'd better get on. But just to say, 'for me' next years Open studio event in September 2013 promises to be a bit special... It's already arranged and I shall be rubbing shoulders with different sort of 'Mackintosh' altogether. So it'll be Charles Rennie and me.... and I'm really looking forward to it!
