The colours of spring

I've little to say at the moment and letting my paintings do the talking. The Spring warmth and sunshine seems to bringing out the best in my work.

I've been producing some paintings of surrounding villages...it's not my usual subject matter but I have to say I'm really enjoying visiting these quiet little places, sketching and exploring. With any luck I'll be displaying some at my forthcoming solo exhibition starting on the 9th July 2011

More on this very news very soon.

Hi Chris,

Just wondering how you work on these?

Are they painted 'en plein air'

or worked on in the studio from sketches/photos made on site?

Hi Paul

Basically I work up my sketches and notions from a site visit in my studio. I love the idea of working in situ...but my painting / working practice is pretty messy!

I prefer the comfort of my studio to create the finished work, though I really need to experience my subject matter on location.

Thanks for that Chris,

I can see how you might worry about flinging a glob of paint at a passer-by.
