I've been wandering the fields around my home and discovered an abundance interesting and inspirational material to paint and sketch. It's familiar stomping ground for me of course and so easy to take for granted just what's on my door step.
In recent years we've been blessed with red kites moving into our neighbourhood. I welcome the majestic gliders... others on the other hand find them somewhat intimidating. The other evening, as the sun was setting I watched crows fending off an unwelcome visit from our new guests.. I was as a treat to behold.
Whilst stopping still and being a spectator of natures ways, it spawned a new and exciting idea for a new body of work. 'Take one patch of grass..' Illustrated above is the first piece from an ongoing project, capturing the changing of the season in a familiar setting. I'm really looking forward to producing more musings from my adopted back garden.
