Fresh

It's been snowing..  The sky has mutated from grey to milky white ( It's been grey for weeks and weeks) ... however at times the winter lagging ruptures and fleetingly offers searing light and caerulean blue sky.

I had reason to walk in the snow for a good hour or more the other day whilst awaiting a repair to my car. With a real nip in the air I briskly climbed hills and enjoyed the surrounding lanscape. I love the wireframe outline of the countryside created by snow and hedging... it's a bit like etchasketch! Everything in sight was pin sharp.. and the unfamiliar sunshine created the brightest of highlights. Walking by a local reservoir I was stopped in my tracks of it's unfamiliar beauty. Snow, water, bull rushes, birds dancing on ice and the fresh countryside encapsulated and bathed in by winter light. This moment in the freeze had to be seized and armed with camera, sketch book and new artists mittens.. a dash back to the studio ensued. My head full of imagery and just like garden peas picked fresh, transported and delivered in hours. The job was done!  This was yesterdays painting and all the better for no dillydallying around.
